Two biblical episodes might have inspired this painting: King Solomon meeting the Queen of Sheba, as recounted in 1 Kings, or the episode described in Book of Esther when Esther, a young jewish girl who married the Persian king Ahasuerus, interceded with him on behalf of the Jews.

Deux épisodes bibliques peuvent avoir inspiré ce tableau: il pourrait s’agir de l’entrevue du roi Salomon et de la reine de Saba rapportée dans le Ier Livre des Rois ou de celle, figurant dans le Livre d’Esther, au cours de laquelle, Esther, jeune fille juive épousée par le roi perse Assuérus, implora sa clémence en faveur des juifs.

Dois episódios bíblicos podem ter inspirado esta pintura: O Rei Salomão encontrando a Rainha de Sába, como registrado no Primeiro Livro dos Reis, ou o episódio descrito no Livro de Ester, quando a jovem rainha judia, casada com o rei persa Assuero, intercede diante dele em favor dos judeus.
